Conservative Thoughts

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first. --Thomas Jefferson

Komen Mugged By Pro-Choice Left
Follow The Money
Written by Bob Sordahl
Sunday, 05 February 2012
ImageThe Komen controversy this week has been a lesson in the workings of radical left wing politics in this Country.  We have seen clearly how the loudest most militant elements of our society get their way by threat, coercion and tantrum.  We have also seen 26 Senators throw their political weight behind a dispute that is in the end, a private funding issue.  The Komen foundation has a right to grant their funds to anyone they want, without interference from special interest groups or the Government.  Who would imagine that running a women's charitable organization could be like a midnight walk through Central Park?

A Fair Share From Everyone
Follow The Money
Written by Bob Sordahl

ImageThe Left is fond of accusing Tea Partiers and Conservatives of not wanting to pay any taxes.  I believe that to be a gross mis-representation.  Taxes are essential to funding our Country's operation.  The United States Government generates no tangible product except stamps at the Post Office, so America is dependent upon an uninterrupted flow of cash from its citizens to keep everything moving along.  Although I don't mind paying what I feel is my fair share, I sure get tired of hearing the President constantly whining about those who in his opinion, don't.  Let's talk for a moment about the people in this Country who really are not paying their fair share.

Anybody But Romney?
Conservative Compass Blog
Written by Bob Sordahl
Sunday, 08 January 2012
ImageSomeone coined the phrase "Anybody But Obama" to describe the primary goal and direction of the Right in America.  I don't know if that will be a winning strategy in 2012 or not.  The truth is "anybody" may not be able to garner enough independent and undecided votes to beat this incumbent.  Who the Republicans choose to receive their nomination is very important, and should not be treated as if anything but the status quo will do.  Interestingly however, this primary season has taken on the appearance of an "Anybody But Romney" mentality in the Republican ranks, which I think is the real story of the Presidential campaign so far.

Laws For The Lawless?
I Know It When I See It
Written by Bob Sordahl

ImageThis past holiday week seemed full of tragic stories.  We all know bad things happen to good people, but it always seems more poignant at this time of year.  A particularly senseless murder occurred here in Washington State yesterday, and unfortunately, Liberals couldn't wait to use it as an opportunity to criticize a law they don't like and try to advance their "lack of logic mentality".

As We Approach The New Year
Conservative Compass Blog

ImageFirst, Merry Christmas and Godspeed to our troops around the World.  May you all return safely to your families and loved ones soon.  Thank you for spending another Christmas far away from home to protect our freedoms and way of life.

Some thoughts as we approach the new year:

Notice that the debt clock has rolled over to $15 TRILLION.  I don't know how you ever pay that off.  I guess there are plenty bankruptcy attorneys around who would love to take on that case.  How about we liquidate all the cash, property and holdings of every American making over $250,000 a year?  Make sure that they are paying their FAIR share.  That wouldn't even cover the interest payment on that debt, and then what do you do next year when EVERYBODY is broke?

Shot Down???
Conservative Compass Blog

ImageThis past week the Iranians claim to have shot down an American stealth reconnaissance drone.  I guess losing a military asset is always a bad thing, but I find something really troubling about this case.  I have seen plenty U.S. aircraft in smoking pieces on the ground, but pictures of this one look as if it was trucked across the border on a flatbed.  Does anybody besides me think it is strange that they got that thing on the ground INTACT?

Thanks Are Not Enough
Conservative Compass Blog

ImageToday is Veterans Day, a time when all Americans pause to show gratitude to our troops.  Black or white, male or female, gay or straight, of all ethnic backgrounds and religions...OUR Troops.   We take this day to say "thank you" to our volunteers who risk the ultimate sacrifice preserving our freedoms and way a life while asking nothing in return.  Memorial Day is for heroes who have passed on, but Veterans Day is really for the living.  It is for our brave servants who continue on with the scars of conflict both physical and mental while they resume their lives as parents, children, spouses and siblings.

I haven't been adding blog posts as often as usual.  I find my time is being spread increasingly thin.  In addition to my job that pays the bills, I pursue my love of music, and have recently run for and been elected to public office.  In addition, I have started a new project that is especially relevant on this date.  I am working on a new web site called "Free For Troops.com".

This web site will be the most up-to-date and complete resource for free or nearly free goods, services and resources for our active duty troops and veterans.  We will solicit and publish special deals and products that our military people need and want.  We will act as a clearing house for military information and news helpful to families and dependents of armed forces personnel.

With any luck, I will have the site up and running in about a month.  Please visit; please participate as I will accept all the help I can get.  I really want to make this a great site that makes a great contribution to the wellbeing of our men and women in uniform, because 365 days a year just as on Veterans Day, thanks are not enough.

What Herman Cain Needs To Say
Conservative Compass Blog
Written by Bob Sordahl
Saturday, 05 November 2011
ImageFrom time to time, I let my imagination run wild, and assume the persona of a political speech writer.  I think about what I would write for a sitting politician, or a hopeful candidate.  In today’s post, I am compelled to write something for Herman Cain.  The harassment allegations against him are again diverting our attention from the ultimate goal of the 2012 election: removing the current President from office.  Mr. Cain and his staff have been inept and confused in their dealing with this problem, and I believe my prepared statement to the press for Mr. Cain, might bring some clarity and closure to the issue.
